The Equality Project is a national health promotion charity bringing together rainbow communities and allies to promote a better, more just, and fairer society for all Australians.
“We believe in uniting people to create lasting change, building inclusive and thriving communities where diversity is celebrated.”
— Jason Tuazon-McCheyne, CEO, The Equality Project®
Our mission is to create spaces where diverse communities, organisations, changemakers, and allies can come together, build bridges, and speak with a united voice through meaningful gatherings that foster learning and connection.
CONFERENCE
Our goal is to create a truly intersectional discussion about achieving meaningful social change to create a fairer, more equal and more just Australia through a national conference we call Better Together.
OUR AIMS
To create a national gathering for LGBTIQA+ voices to be heard;
To explore the current issues facing the LGBTIQA+ movement and bring together voices from indigenous communities, people with a disability, the Deaf community, as well as multicultural and multi-faith communities;
To create a truly intersectional discussion about achieving social and cultural change;
To connect and celebrate Australia’s diverse LGBTIQA+ communities and its allies;
And to create opportunities to establish meaningful connections so we can work collaboratively and cultivate positive change.
TRAINING
In order to achieve meaningful social change we need to foster the training of a new generation of LGBTIQA+ advocates to lead the conversation, reshape the narrative, and ultimately drive change within and outside of LGBTIQA+ communities.
OUR AIM
We want to achieve this through an initiative we call Better Together Training.
Our unique program consists of tailored advocacy and leadership training programs for LGBTIQA+ changemakers and emerging leaders who want to build the core skills, knowledge and techniques to drive positive change in their communities.
